The databases presented on sites www.paquebot-normandie.net and www.ss-normandie.com are the result of many years of researches and investments of any orders. They are protected by French law on protection of the rights of authors and producers of databases such as defined by the Code of Intellectual Property.
THIS PROTECTION IS INTERNATIONAL
Philippe Socquin-Brillan is the unique author of the databases which compose the sites www.paquebot-normandie.net and
www.ss-normandie.com. He is there the unique editor and producer.
Every extraction, reproduction and re-use - even partial - of elements of databases given by these sites are subjected to his authorization.
USES NOT SUBJECTED TO AUTHORIZATION
1° - Any person or legal entity can use and quote the system of referencing created by the author since she makes explicit mention in the source and the name of the site www.paquebot-normandie.net or www.ss-normandie.com.
2° - Any person can extract, reproduce and re-use elements of databases belonging to the author for private and personnal purposes. Only in that case, excluding any written or electronic publishing whatever shape it is.
3° - Extraction, processing and reuse of elements of databases in educational purposes. The illustration within the framework of teaching and research, with the exception of any playful and entertaining activity, and therefore that the target audience for this extraction and re-use consists mainly of pupils, students, teachers, and directly concerned researchers .
The source and site name www.paquebot-normandie.net or www.ss-normandie.com must be mentioned in an explicit way.
USES SUBJECTED TO AUTHORIZATION
In a general way, a written authorization of the author is compulsory for any extraction, re-use or reproduction - even partial - except the cases provided for in the previous paragraph "Uses not subjected to authorization".
Especially in the following cases :
1° - Any extraction, re-use or reproduction - even partial - whatever shape it is, written or electronic of elements of databases in purposes of information or business concern, even in the educational, instructional, or research in general.
2° - Any extration, re-use or reproduction - even partially - whatever shape it is, in playful and entertaining purposes, in particular in the field of the games, and particularly the computer games.
3° - The creation of databases or works of any kinds derived from databases of the author.
4° - The public representation of the totality or even a part of databases, whatever process it is.
DEMAND OF AUTHORIZATION
To avoid any risk of infringement the rights of the producer of databases, it is recommended before any use in a frame outside the private life to make a request of authorization via the "contact form" or by contacting him directly by e-mail :

This request will have to be formulated clearly and very precisely. It will have to contain the following elements :
1° - The name, the address and the profession of the beneficiary of the authorization if it is about a person.
- The name, the address, the main activity and the SIRET number for a French society (or the equivalent of the SIRET number for a foreign company).
2° - The precise description of the concerned project, its context and the duration of the diffusion of the concerned elements.
3° - The precise description of the one or serveral supports of edition where will be inserted the elements of databases.
4° - The detailed list of the references of the elements being the object of the authorization of extraction, reproduction and re-use.
To appreciate the request, the author can be brought to ask for more precisions to the applicant, without that he has to justify himself.
The beneficiary of the authorization will have to conform to the instructions of the author for the use of the elements of his databases. A copy in duplicate of the definitive project will be put back to him for validation and authorization. One of these copies will stay his property. He will be able to use it for the promotion of his databases at any and in some way that he will wish, without to look of financial compensation. The author of this copy will give him explicitly the written authorization during his request.
In the case of the business concern of one or several databases, or elements of on or serveral databases, si the author considers that the project which is presented to him takes on an importance such as his work represents a capital gain for the project, or for quite other reason of which he will have not to justify himself, he will be able to ask for a financial compensation.
Whatever the type of authorization, the author keeps the total control of the usage made of his of his databases.
If the beneficiary of an authorization does not respect the instructions of the author, or if a misused or misappropriated any component databases is noticed by the author, he will be allowed to request the immediate withdrawal of the diverted or improperly used elements. Any binding measure can be initiated at any time and anywhere in the world, by the author or his legal successors, to comply with his instructions. Any expenses incurred by this approach will be supported by the beneficiary of the authorization.
In case of dispute, the courts of the place of residence of the author, or in defect those the most close to his place of residence will be only competent.
DISCIPLINARY ACTION BY THE CODE OF INTELLECTUAL PROTECTION

Is punishable by three years of detention and 300.000 euro of fine for carrying infrigement of rights of the producer of a database as defined in the article L. 341-1 of the Code of Intellectual Protection. When the offence was committed by an organized gang, the punishments are extended to five years of detention and 500.000 euro of fine.
